Mezcla Mágica Margarita

With influences from my time in Colorado & Mexico, I have been making & refining my Texas/Cadillac-style SubLime Citrus Margarita recipe for over 30 years. And so it may seem odd that my next iteration happens while living in Amsterdam on what a long strange, wondrous trip it's been.

This new variation introduces Mezcal to the mix for an alluring complexity that intrigues one’s palate with richly addictive, yet balanced smokey notes. But please note, with this complexity choosing complementary spirits becomes more nuanced. I recommend a silver or lightly-aged reposado tequila and a joven (blanco) espadin mezcal with bright citrus notes that meld with the mélange of hand-squeezed juices. This may not be the easiest margarita to make, but get the proportions right, and it may just be the best margarita to ever pass your lips.
