Sage Eckman, founder of World Tree Workshop >>, has been a craftsman at heart for his whole life. At the age of 5, he started building balsa wood airplanes in his father's woodshop where he learned a foundational knowledge of tools & materials.
With an expanding set of techniques, Sage moved on to designing & building downhill skateboards, building concave moulds and hydraulic presses in his garage. Shaping decks for superior stability and centers of gravity. He then further pushed the envelop by developing a process of hot pressing carbon fiber composite decks for competitive downhill skateboard racing.
Whether it's lending his considerable fine woodworking talents to our Heinsenfolg high fidelity objets d’art or creating his current collection of beautifully hand-crafted home goods, Sage has always focused on lasting build quality. Simply put, he believes that by incorporating the inherent beauty & strength of organic materials into our everyday lives, we can create a stronger connection to the natural world— and we wholeheartedly concur!
